When this forum was formed, the founding members decide not to criticize Civil War Talk here.

OTOH that is not true of another forum of mine https://civilwartalkstatistics.home.blog/ for the non-facebook person
and
a FaceBook Page
https://www.facebook.com/cwtstatistics for the facebook person.

It is mostly about the statistics of Civil War Talk, but there are editorials. I post one or two times a week unless there is breaking news.

Mike and Ami post there on occasions, the last one was where Mike bragged that he was rich and making money hand over fist on CWT advertising. There posts are on how this is possible, but not appropriate here.
I am kind of curious on why criticism of CWT is Verboten vs the heinous criticism that you have received after years of volunteer work for CWT?

If anyone want to start a PM with me about CWT, I will add all interested Parties.
Please add me to any PM related to CWT criticism and banning slavery as a topic for the month. Just found that myself and I am typically the type of person that doesn't like to focus on the negative, to gossip or whatever, though to ban such a broad topic that represented the forced life system of the majority of a race of a Nation and was so widespread just seems completely and utterly ridiculous to me.

I can't believe I'm saying it but think I'm going to be counted among those that have left CWT for good. I had planned to stay and lightly participate despite any disagreements I had, its not my way to block something out like, heck I have never unfriended a facebook friend or blocked a feed (despite having may of various political extremes on either side, even didn't unfriend a friend who called me a self hating white at one point) since it's just not my way. This might be too much for me.

I'll leave it there since I don't want to break any etiquette regarding criticizing CWT here publicly.

as a matter of fact the CSA never ever employed a single slave,
to call them slaves simply humbbles the pride of those valliant black confederades, who gun in hand defended their homeland against the evil Northern Agression

Just wanted to add that the whole slavery topic thing is being openly discussed there. It's unfortunate it even has to be a conversation, but considering I posted what I did I felt I should post that the whole thing is being openly talked about and considered in a reasonable way.

I don't know about reasonably Matt, w/ all due respect, it looks snarky by Mike and esp. Ami to me, if this is the "discussion" you are referring to.

https://civilwartalk.com/threads/it...we-can-discuss-and-two-things-we-wont.161767/

Not to mention the way they have treated @Pat Young and his Recontruction forum.

But, this is better to be discussed here.

So just to share, apparently I was banned. Mike said he welcomed comments but not debate so I summarized my views in a final post and despite being attacked and mocked by both Ami and Mike (for some reason, I've never had a real conversation with either of them) I did not respond or defend myself, I kept to my word and let it rest. I quietly messaged some people I was leaving the forum after all of this, I was determined to be respectful and not make any drama. Apparently others felt differently.

For what it's worth, I agree with not badmouthing another forum here. I realize there have been some who seem to have been banned in an arbitrary manner, though we don't know the thought processes that went into those actions [and in my case, I freely state I knowingly violated the rules and consider banning to have been an appropriate response, and I bear no ill will as a result], but I don't think we as a forum should succumb to the temptation of airing grievances publicly. My other comment on this thread, by the way, was a reaction to the statement posted, and not intended to be a complaint about another forum.

In general I agree. My public statements regarding this are mostly just sharing what's happened. Since I can no longer read or send messages on that forum at least here people can stumble across it and see why I might not respond to them and be aware of what happened. I think the banned topic of slavery is relevant and 5fish's later comment is too since apparently even speaking about concerns regarding things is resulting in bans. So here seems to be literally the only place some of us can even talk about it or find out who is banned and start a more private conversation about it.

For the record I didn't break any rules and got banned. There was in fact a limited amount of further correspondence after I asked why, but I'm reserving that to private threads/conversations for the same reasons you outlined. Despite being attacked I have no desire or motivation to attack the CWT owners or the forum itself. Their forum, they can do whatever they want.

I thought so too, just before I was banned.

Reminds me of the Hundred Flowers Campaign

I do not know why I was sent packing but it does seem the people who had reservations about the changes got walking papers...
My guess our membership list is a sign of disloyalty.
Al is correct. We have PMs to grumble on.

Apparently, they have an entire site devoted to slavery now. SlaveryTalk.com & ReconstructionTalk.com

https://civilwartalk.com/forums/SlaveryTalk/
Not really. Those URLs redirect to forums in the CivilWarTalk.com site. It is like having several mailboxes for the same building. OTOH, it makes it very simple to shut slavery, secession or reconstruction down if they want to.

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying but, regardless of whether they are, "sub-forums".... they are basically an entire forum dedicated to those subjects only. Apparently, they are just banning the discussion of those topics, in their main civil war forums. At least that's how it appears.

From recent action though, it appears, questioning management is a bigger sin than, discussing subjects banned in certain areas of the site. I've always liked the site. However, it hasn't been the same since all you trouble makers got booted..! :D:cool::p
