Median income is a useless measurement. We have a fair amount of billionaire's and multi millionaires so it skews the average.
You really need to come to California and see for yourself.
See if you can do a ride along with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at say Firestone Station . They used to allow ride a lings not sure now.

I'd opine that it is like the Republican heaven of Alabama.

I am sure during the Antebellum era Alabama had a high Median income. That didn't mean the slaves were living high off the hog.

To be fair how would a Republican Mayor reduce crime?
Kirk's Raiders
It would take more than a Republican mayor. It would take some independent thinkers on the city councils as well. Most of these communities have been under one party rule, the Democratic party, for generations. Obviously, what they are doing isn't working. Their entire government is run by Dems. Not sure how anyone could say, their policies are good for their cities. Or that they aren't the problem...

Generations ago, the Dems were the conservative party.

You making a false comparison... Many of those cities are growing but due to the inequality and the income inequality within our nation, people are being left behind... The Root of all the problems is wealth inequality which brings the social ills, crime, lack of economic mobility, and so forth...

The truth is its been the Republican party since the 1980s economic agenda has created this inequality within our society... It is not Democratic mayors but the Republican economic policies...

Unreal. Could you explain what Republican economic policies have turned Baltimore into a shithole..? How about St Louis..? As I've already pointed out, both cities are run by Democrat mayors, & 100% Democrat city councils. The last Republican in charge of St Louis was 70 yrs ago, & the last Republican in charge of Baltimore was over 50yrs ago.

Agree. The kool-aide of the neoliberal idea that greed is good and unfettered markets are inherently great.

In any case, many of the cherry-picked examples of cites are ones that have been economically devastated.

Baltimore's crime rate is significantly higher than the national rate, with the metro area experiencing its fair share of violent crime – particularly within the city proper. However, there are plenty of central Baltimore neighborhoods where residents feel safe walking around, including Mount Vernon and Federal Hill.

Cherry picked..? I listed the top 5 cities in the US for murders. They are all run 100% by Democrats, most have been for decades. It doesn't require a ton of critical thinking, to connect the dots. They might consider choosing some different paths, from a policy standpoint in those cities. The Democrats in charge, haven't figured out how to keep those cities safe.
