Spent the last four days in New York City, staying in a hotel within sight of the two lions in front of the NY Public Library. Saw three shows, and attended service at Saint John the Divine.

The frenetic energy and motion in the city is unique. Construction is continual, in a constant process of destruction and renewal. Contrary to the image of New Yorkers as being unfriendly, we found folks be generally, if not universally, quite nice and friendly.

Everyone was quite strict about covid regulations, more so than in Massachusetts. Every restaurant and entertainment venue required a vaccination card and ID. In the theaters, staff would remind patrons to "mask up(pull the mask up)".

Getting on the train station, a rough looking fellow held the door for the wife. "Have a great trip!" then to me, "If you're a veteran, thank you for your service!" (It was Veteran's Day).

Never been to the big Apple...

But flew into Newark airport on a the flight path paralleled to New York City so I flew the length of Manhattan Island and saw the Statue of Liberty from afar...
