I saw that story. It is shameful and disgusting. We raised sheep and cattle when I was a kid but we never considered throwin' bombs at the wild dogs. The coyotes have come back in recent years.

I could not find my post on Warrior training for cops but there is a program out of New Orleans called EPIC... if the police had this training Floyd might be alive today.

No where in the above article did it mention a crime free city. The article basically argued that George Orwell ( who actually was a police officer in Colonial Burma) who wrote " 1984" in 1948 was on the money. Obviously I er seventy years ago the technology described in the article didn't exist for example DNA wasn't discovered until 1957. The technology described in the article is even more intrusive then Orwell even imagined.
The article wasn't focused on street crime but the technology described could in theory dramatically decrease street crime if a society has a large police force to respond to monitored crime.
Yes Orwell was right and Chinese surveillance technology is being sold around the world. It's an open question if such technology will be used in the West. The article doesn't mention Israel which is very involved in Chinese high tech.

It's certainly good for thought. An existential question has always been " at what price safety"?
There are many who object to weapons searches at airports eventhough they have been overall very effective. Clearly such technology is being used worldwide and we shall soon see if it's more effective then conventional CCztV.
