If you're interested in banking with regard to the American Civil War, Larry Schweikart has you covered. His articles include:
“Secession and Southern Banks,” Civil War History, XXXI, June 1985.
“Southern Banking and Economic Growth in the Antebellum Period: A Reassessment,” Journal of Southern History, LIII, February 1987
“The Panic of 1857: Causes, Transmission, and Containment” (co-authored with Charles Calomiris), Journal of Economic History, LI, December 1990

He's also written state-specific antebellum banking articles including Alabama (for The Alabama Review), Tennessee (Tennessee Historical Quarterly), and Arkansas (Southern Studies).

Of course, he's also the guy who wrote several "Politically Incorrect Guide to..." books plus 48 Liberal Lies About American History: (That You Probably Learned in School), A Patriot's History of the United States, A Patriot's History of the Modern World, Vol. I: From America's Exceptional Ascent to the Atomic Bomb, 1898-1945, and A Patriot's History of the Modern World, Vol. II: From the Cold War to the Age of Entitlement, 1945-2012. The description provided to Amazon mentions the "triumph of American exceptionalism over liberal progressivism."

His books have been published by Sentinel, an imprint of Penguin specializing in conservative literature, and Regnery Publishing, wihch nonsensically declares itself "Conservative Books for Independent Thinkers."
